Part posing coach, part cheerleader, 100% lover of Kauai

ELANA TOUGH

Your Kauai family photographer

And for that same inviting spirit and the joy I hold for Kauai to radiate through every photo.

On Kauai, the word E’ Komo MaI means welcome. Or greeting a kindred spirit with open arms.

Much like the warm embrace of the island's hospitality, I aim to create an atmosphere that allows you to feel relaxed and carefree in front of the camera.

(PRONOUNCED: EH KOH-MOH-MY)

E’ Komo Mai

Having photographed hundreds of families, I now know that the best way to capture photos of kids is to go with the flow instead of fighting against the tides. That’s why I structure my sessions and posing instructions around your youngest family members and their ability to participate.

In turn, even when faced with a mid-day meltdown, I’m confident that we will get incredible shots of your whole family.

A Flexible and fun experience

FAMILY-CENTRIC APPROACH

With me, you can rest assured that everyone will have a good time. That’s because, during our session I’ll crack a few jokes. We’ll actually laugh as we go from one photo background to the next. And I’ll show you the back of the camera, as we go, to break up any nerves.

A gift for putting people at ease

WELCOMING DEMEANOR

Amy

She maximized the natural backgrounds and light and has an amazing knack to get everyone relaxed. A true joy to work with.

Captures the best of everyone

While we wander the island, I'll encourage you to interact as I capture unscripted yet meaningful moments that add a deeper meaning to your stunning photos. So, you can trust me to uncover  a photo location that is not only convenient and picturesque, but also something that will become cherished and filled with personal significance.

And as an adventurous spirit, I know all of the best locations to bring your vision to life. I'll make suggestions that match your vision and level of adventure. Then, I’ll lead the way to backdrops that don’t disappoint.

Insider access to breathtaking scenery

FAVORITE LOCATIONs

While candid photos are essential for showing the emotion and connection between you and your loved ones, posed portraits are what you'll want to hang on a wall or print on a holiday card.

So, drawing from my previous experience as a Fashion Photographer, I’ll offer clear directions on positioning and posing to ensure each person looks their absolute best.

And, having a daughter of my own, I know all too well how easily moms can fade into the background of photos. So, I'll capture a variety of portraits to showcase everyone - and especially mom! - in their best light.

Inclusive and balanced portraits

THOUGHTFUL PERSPECTIVE

Jeff

I invariably feel awkward around a camera and greatly appreciate Elana's gift for putting everyone at ease. She radiates joy, comes prepared, and brings an easy-going professionalism that made our shoot feel organic and well-orchestrated.

AN EASYGOING PROFESSIONAL

As a multi-passionate entrepreneur, I also professionally style and capture images for local restaurants and renowned fashion companies. You may have seen my work in the airport or at your resort within the Kauai Experiences magazine, Savvy Magazine or Praze Magazine. To view more of my work or begin a project of your own, you can explore my sister brand The Artichoke.

AND RESEARCHING FASHION AND FOOD

As a passionate gardener, I enjoy cultivating and sharing my love for the island's native flowers. Golden hibiscus, lush greenery, vibrant plumeria - there’s something for every style and season. So, if you're interested in wearing beautiful leis or hakus during your session, I love collaborating with local florists to curate a selection of seasonal blooms that fit your session.

Making Lei

More than just a dance, hula embodies the spirit of the islands, the stories, and the cultural heritage that surrounds us. The fluidity of the motion inspires my approach to photography, encouraging me to capture moments gracefully and naturally.
